Review: Mama Lou's Italian Kitchen

Mama Lou's Italian Kitchen

Ground Floor, UP Town Center, Katipunan Avenue, Diliman, Quezon City

we literally stumbled upon Mama Lou's on Fathers Day (yes that long ago! but i made a mental note to remember the food and experience for blogging). we were looking for a place to dine, all the other restos were bustling, long wait time and we did not know where else to dine. Mama Lou's also had a long queue but I guess that their location was the most pleasing for a toddler to run around on so we decided to get a number and wait. this is the only con i can remember for this place, long wait time. but hey, i don't think anyone can blame them. it was Father's day, dinner time and they serve good food. the wait was worth it.

Here are the items we've ordered and my unbiased review on each.

Mama Lou's Special Pizza - PHP350 (small)/ PHP450 (large)

their signature and best seller pizza. thin crust topped with tomatoes, mozarella, mangoes, prosciutto, arugula and balsamic cream served with more arugula and alfalfa on the side which gives you the option to top the side veggies to the pizza and eat it like a pizza roll. so tasty and different. this is a refreshing break from the commercialized pizza we pinoys usually get to order.

Risotto Tartufu Funghi - PHP325

My personal favorite! I've been wanting to eat risotto ever since Hazel Grace Lancaster and Augustus Waters had a lovely meal of Dragon Carrot Risotto from the Fault in our Stars. Mama Lou's Risotto Tartufo Funghi did not disappoint my exceedingly high expectations. It was cheesy and creamy. Just perfect for the palette. may tend to give you "umay" if you eat more than enough but don't eat more than enough and it's just perfect. made me feel like i was with Gus and Hazel Grace in Amsterdam. LOL. my little boss bonchie loved this too!

Salpicao - PHP295

Von's favorite go to dish is the Salpicao. It was flavorful and tender but this was my least favorite from our orders. It is at par with the other best tasting Salpicao we've had but nothing special to make it stand out.

All pics were actual shots when we dined in. The serving was just right - not too much not too little and all the food was tasty. The service from the staff was also good though not exceptional. Definitely a must try. We are also definitely coming back to try more from their menu.
