#vmanalacs valentine weekend + 50 shades of date
it was valentines weekend last week and we were somehow able to find time for a family date and date night between me and Mister.
for over a couple of weekends now, we have resolved to lessen "gala time" during Saturdays to 1.) be able to lessen "eat out expenses"; 2.) so i'd have time to cook for the family which i love to do but felt that i never had time to do so anymore and 3.) to be able to spend more time bonding at home now that our home was almost done going through the renovations... so given that, i felt the need to change things up a bit and go out this weekend so we can take the little man out for some play time too.
we drove up to BGC in Taguig and for some love struck reason perhaps, traffic was more than its usual terrible-ness. took us 2 hours to get there from nova. but hey the long drive was a bonding experience for us too and i am grateful that being strapped in a car seat is NOT one of bonchie's many tantrum triggers. he sat quietly in his seat while watching the cars, muttering some things from time to time while me and his dad got the chance to talk about what happened during our busy weeks.
when we got there, it was drizzling. the main reason why we wanted to drive down there was for bonchie to enjoy the open park, but we couldnt do just that yet because of the rain. bonchie wanted to stay in front of the fountain in awe but since the drizzle was getting intolerable we had to look for cover. so we settled for dinner. good thing the little one can easily be distracted by food. lol! we enjoyed a nice lovely meal of pork and shrimp katsu from Saboten and silently prayed for the rain to stop when we finish our meal. it didn't. despite the lack of "walking time" for the little one it was still a fun outing as we get to spend time together.
next day, we scheduled to have lunch with my mom and sister at Zensho before going to church. Zensho was a restaurant i've been wanting to take my mom too for the longest time. i feel like she'd appreciate the eat all you can authentic Japanese teppanyaki there and she did. my mom is such a big help to us ever since Bonchie came and she is the only one who can "handle" Bonchie like we can. Bonchie's a little choosy with people but he has grown to love grandma and feel secure with her even without me or Von. i really am very grateful for my mom. we couldnt get through every day without her hence my everyday need to make her feel appreciated and treat her with small tokens every time. one more thing i appreciate about my mom is she knows how to appreciate this little things. she has already gone through the phase wherein she feels guilty every time we spend money for her. it always gives me (and Von) a happy feeling whenever we see her appreciate what we offer instead of making us feel that what we did was just a waste of money and wasn't worth it.
Lunch was filling, we enjoyed our usual order of steaks, tempura, oyster, sushi, etc. bonchie enjoyed the food and his playtime with grandma and Tita Ninang. after lunch we went to church/kids church, went a little shopping and went home. Von and i planned to go out after Bonchie sleeps so we can have a little couple time. so once the young man is out, we left him and grandma and headed for the cinemas.
yup, we did watch 50 shades of grey. and no, i wasn't head over heals gaga for Mr.Grey and his quirky hobby. and yes, i do agree to the circulating blogs that Mr.Grey's vision of love is more creepy and scary than romantic. and no, i'm not writing any letters to my son any time soon warning him about the trending 50 shades of grey story line. i read the 50 shades trilogy, it was an interestingly different read that was uniquely enjoyable and i wanted to share with my husband the story so we watched. we were a couple out on a date watching a very popular film. i think some people may have overreacted too much with the 50 shades story, yes it wasn't normal. yes, BDSM doesn't sound right to most normal people. and yes, i would flip out if my kids gets to experience this story in their real life. but it isn't real life. and the book has fairly established the reason behind Mr.Grey's quirks. he's had a very bad childhood which led to his exposure to these things. so note to us parents, rather than overreacting to the fiction that we're watching, lets act and make sure our kids doesn't experience any trauma in their early life that will make them grow up to be in to this notorious things. it has been said over an over again, a child's future is very well built upon its foundation. so there goes my preaching. bow. and yes, we enjoyed the movie. Jamie Dornan, though he wasn't really my picture of Christian Grey, was sizzling. and Dakota Johnson was very captivating.
Belated Happy Valentines! Til next year!
PS: What we watch doesn't make us.
PS # 2: Aside from flowers, Von got me another present. He got me an insanely cute purple helmet! I guess to push me to ride the bike he bought me more often. Aye sir! Biking schedule for next week - check!
Ciao!
