Party Time! DIY Setup

it's been a loooooonnngg and tiring day. my birthday boy is already sound asleep but before i rest and call it a day let me just share about my DIYs for bonchie's party.

i've been planning for the party ever since the start of the year and have been canvassing how much a decent party set up would cost. i'm not choosy when it comes to the styling of the party as only a few people really notices it anyway but of course i want something presentable and not that costly. so i decided to do things myself. at least, its easy on the pockets and i've got no one else to blame but me.

DIY #1: goodies buffet backdrop

i initially tried doing paper fans for the backdrop but it was so freaking hard! it looked so easy from videos and instructions but aligning the folds is such a challenge. my 1st two attempts with the paper fans are so ugly so i had to throw it and think of something else hence resulting to the paper garlands.

i only needed to cut patterned papers into circles and tape them to strings and they made a lovely backdrop.

DIY # 2: happy birthday banner

i already bought a birthday banner when i thought i didn't have the time to do my DIYs but luckily i had spare time from work. i customized the banner to suit our basketball theme, printed and cut each letters separately and stringed them together with a ribbon.

DIY # 3: i am one highcair banner

this is easy. i just printed the "i am 1" letters and pasted them on to my patterned paper and hung them loosely on a ribbon alongside crepe papers to give it more volume.

DIY # 4: 1 pictures

i just taped printouts of bonchie's pics from birth to now to the wall to from the number one.

ps: i also hung his pics from the ceiling with a ribbon for a more personal effect. (too bad i forgot to take a picture.

DIY # 5: goodies buffet with name cards
so with the backdrop already set, i started laying out the candies and the goodies along with the VAUGHAN letters on the table.

table and chocolate fountain was provided for by my caterer (Kubiertos Catering)

DIY # 6: 3D letters standee

i've already blogged about this a couple of times and i would say this was the most difficult of all my DIYs. take note all i needed to do was to wrap them! i got the letters from 168 mall at 30php ea. i think this isn't the best price as i heard that there are more of these being sold along tabora but i didn't want to walk that far so i settled for the 168 price. so far, we've only seen one store in 168 who sells these letters.

1st problem was finding a design for the wrapper. i've researched a lot but found very little stores who sells patterned card stock. until the very last minute, i settled for a gift wrapping paper from national bookstore.

tracing and cutting was also a challenged. pasting was used using modgepodge glue that i bought from an art store in sm north called deovir. after wrapping i printed and cut out the basketball fire pic to accentuate the plain pattern.

DIY # 7: individually wrapped prizes for games

need i say more? i wrapped the prizes to match the theme.

Here's a pic of my birthday boy with the backdrop. Though he doesn't look happy in the pic i'm pretty sure he enjoyed the whole party. as for me, i'm happy with the results, im happy with the party, i'm happy everyone enjoyed the party!
