Fire's Out!

Not even a week in to this year and we had a test of faith and testimony of God's goodness.

I pray that this'll be the most dreadful picture I'll have for this year or better yet for my whole family's lifetime. When Von woke me up saying that the area behind us is burning, i didn't really understand what was going on. My first thoughts were where's Bonchie, who was right beside me getting ready to nap and to look out our bedroom window. When I opened the window, I saw the fire not more than 10 meters away. It was only then when I woke up and knew that I had to get everyone out. With Von, taking the cars to a farther area, and everyone outside panicking, I rushed to make sure that everyone is out. Just when all you wanted to find was your slippers, I couldn't find any! Until we were out, Bonchie in my left, Tutay in my right and my mom beside us. Von was asking me what things to bring out, I had no idea. All I was thinking of is if everyone's safe and that I had to pray. We had to pray. Knowing that there's no best thing to do was to pray, I took a picture and asked for our FB friends collective prayer. We could save one, two or three items if we get them out but we can save the whole house from damage if we prayed and if everyone else is praying with us. As we were praying, I realized that aside from ourselves I only had my phone with me and nothing else. No bag, no money, no IDs, no important documents. That was our life's worth about to be eaten by flames. With the fire very close to our firewall, the firemen came. The smoke was getting too thick but the wind started blowing a different direction. When the fire was in control, the fire fighters were saying that it was good that the wind started going sideways to a more open space instead of continuing towards our direction. And right on queue, there was this V sign in the sky. It was a miracle. As everything started to settle down, the fear, the panic, the near hit started to sink in. It was the worse kind of fear and panic I've ever felt my whole life. Now that we are safe, and unharmed, I am thankful that all we were left with is the smell of smoke and burnt wood. I pray that those affected by the fire gets to rebuild what they have lost. Thanks to everyone who prayed with us. To God be the glory.
