Halloween 2014: Trick or Treat!

Even before we got married, the ops account that Von & I used to be a part of has been hosting an annual trick or treat (ToT) event for its team members & their children. It has always been an activity we looked forward to as it is so fun to meet our co-workers little kids running around the production area without a care in the world. So now that we've had a child it is but normal to be giddy & excited for the upcoming event.

Since the ToT is a Halloween activity, it is usually held towards the end of October. We wanted to go last year but Bonchie was not even a month old then hence we waited for this year. However, due to the workload, the schedules, deadlines, the new boss and all other factors involving work, I've come to accept that this year may (again) not be the year for Bonchie to join the ToT. I've already convinced myself that Bonchie wouldn't appreciate the activities, he might just be scared of all the people, and he doesn't know what's going on anyway. So I've come to peace with us sitting this year out.

But... As luck would have it, on Monday the new boss suddenly declared the Friday before Nov 1 & 2 a holiday! My mind instantly went on overdrive planning out how we could still possibly join the ToT event on Thursday even w/o early preparations. Item after item has been checked of my list as the plan starts to fall in to place. Last of our worries comes the costume. Being that it already is a Tuesday morning, we have short of 2 days to think of & execute a costume for our little one. Lol! After some thorough research (the theme of the ToT being Superheroes & Villains), we thought of making Bonchie go as Logan (Wolverine) from the X-men. It was a fairly easy costume, we can just dress him up in jeans and white sando. Von also found a link with instructions for DIY wolverine claw. Haha! Aside from the claws, we planned on setting his hair and drawing some facial hair. Talk about improvising!  I also had a scheduled trip to the fish market to buy our weekly needs for wet goods, if luck would have it I found the perfect white sando there & a Halloween pail for his goodies. Never would I have imagined myself buying clothes for my child in a fish market. But given the lack of time, a moms got to do what she does best - improvise! I think it's the heavens way of telling me to enjoy this break with my son.

Given the long back story, it was indeed a fun filled day. Here are some pics of the event.

At the end of the day, he was happy sitting in a corner munching his goodies (not the candies of course, just the biscuits and those that he can already eat).

Happy Halloween!
